The Governor of Asir region, His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul Aziz, has congratulated His Excellency, the Rector of King Khalid University (KKU), Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Dawood, on the occasion of choosing him - the Rector - to represent the University in the Council of Arab Universities Association. Earlier, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud - may God protect him - has approved the King Khalid University's accession to membership of the Association.

In the same field, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud - may God protect him - has approved the nomination of King Khalid University as a member of the Executive Board of the Association of Arab Universities. The University received a letter from the Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, stating the selection of the Rector, Prof. Dr. Abdul rahman bin Hamad Al Dawood, as a member of the Executive Council of the Association. The selection is going to be for two ordinary sessions, starting from the 48^th session of the General Conference.

On this remarkable occasion, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul Aziz, the Governor of Asir region, praised the great role being played by King Khalid university in various fields, which makes the University the focus of all observers of academic affairs in the Arab world. Prince Faisal said, "Choosing King Khalid University, represented by His Excellency, Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Dawood, for membership of the Council, as a sole representative to the whole Saudi educational institutions, is a matter of pride. It is also a clear evidence on the great support from our wise government that the University of King Khalid enjoys. The support has surmounted difficulties in order to support the educational process in our dear country." His Royal Highness wished Prof. Dr.Al Dawood success in his mission, believing in him to be a good representation for the country. Prince Faisal also wished the King Khalid University continuous uniqueness in all areas.

For his part, His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Azzam Al-Dakhil congratulated the choice of King Khalid University, represented by its Rector, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Dawood. He said, "Choosing King Khalid University is a proof of the excellence of the University, which was chosen as the sole representative of the educational institutions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is also a positive indicator for our Saudi universities, which assert that they are always leading universities in various fields." Dr. Al-Dakhil pointed out that the King Khalid University was a good representative to the Saudi universities due to the availability of all success factors, in addition to the existence of distinctive academic cadre. Finally, the Minister wished the University success in this mission,  to be a good representative of our dear country.

For his part, the Rector of King Khalid University, His Excellency, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al dawood has expressed his thanks, gratitude, and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, for His approval and trust in him in person, and the for the university - with its employees - in general. Rector Al dawood pointed out thus, "It is a great national responsibility to grant the KKU the chance to represent all Saudi educational institutions in this Council, and this - with no doubt - brings us a greater responsibility, so the university should be at the level of this recognition." Rector Al dawood added, "At the same time, this nomination is a moral incentive for all the University stakeholders". Rector Al dawood also thanked and appreciated all efforts of His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal Bin Khalid bin Abdul-Aziz, Governor of Asir region, who is the backbones of every achievement, in every part of the region in general, and at King Khalid University in particular. Rector Al dawood also thanked the Minister of Education, Dr. Azzam Bin Mohammad Al Dakhil, for his continued support and blessed efforts, praying to God to help him in order to achieve more achievements and to render more supports for this university and for education in general, in this generous country. His Excellency KKU Rector also thanked the members of the Association for the trust they placed in him in choosing him as a member of the Executive Council of the Association, stressing that "this choice is a normal result of the important role being played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia locally and globally", adding that "The Kingdom enjoys a global position, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, and the Crown Prince, His Royal Highness, Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdul Aziz, and the Deputy Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz."

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Association congratulated His Excellency the Rector of King Khalid University, saying, "I congratulate Your Excellency on this choice to participate in bearing the burden of the important responsibility, and we look forward to our cooperation to achieve the goals and objectives of our Association."

King Khalid University (KKU) is counted as the largest Saudi universities in terms of the number of colleges. It has 44 colleges that are distributed in all the provinces of Asir region.  In addition, more than 70,000 students, who are enrolled in different academic disciplines, are receiving education from more than 7,000 members the teaching staff.

The Association of Arab Universities was established on 30/09/1964 under Resolution No. 2056, issued by the Arab League Council on the recommendation of the Committee on Cultural and Social Affairs. An interim secretariat of the Association was established in Cairo in 1965, which held the first meeting of the General Conference of the Association in September 1969. After that, the interim secretariat became a permanent secretariat and the number of participating universities and institution increased to 23. In 1984, the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Association was transferred to the city of Amman in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The Association aims to support Arab universities in preparing a sort of human work force to serve the Arab nations and to achieve their aspirations. In addition, the Arab universities are bound to work according to values stemming from the Islamic religion and its eternal message, applying it in thought and in act, to achieve this objective by all legitimate means.
