University to Establish Cancer Research Unit
His Excellency, King Khalid University Rector Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy, issued a directive establishing a Cancer Research Unit linked to the Scientific Research Deanship. The unit aims to study cancers and its related effects. The unit will also research potential genetic and environmental factors that might cause or contribute to the growth of the disease.
The unit will also establish a fully equipped research facility in which collaborative domestic and international organizations can participate in cutting-edge cancer research at the postgraduate and professional levels. In addition, the research arm will serve as an advanced teaching facility for medical students and postgraduate disease researchers. Research capabilities will include tumors, genomics, immunobiology, biochemistry, and epidemiology.
