University launches clinics for quitting smoking and Psychotherapy.

The King Khalid University, represented by the Guidance and Counseling Unit has inaugurated a clinic to help the students of the University to give up smoking. The headquarters of the clinic is in the University City, Abha. The inauguration of the clinic took place in the presence of the Vice - President for Health Specialties, Dr. Khalid Bin Saad Al-Jelban, the Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Merrea Bin Saad Al Habash, and a number of doctors and specialists.

During the inauguration of the clinic, Dr. Khalid Al-Jelban stated that they established the clinic to reach the largest possible number of smokers from students and employees of the university, in order to lend them a helping hand to quit smoking. He said, "The clinic depends on qualified staff who introduce the service of giving up smoking, in addition to the behavioral and therapeutic program which will help quitting this bad habit" He added, "The clinics are supervised by distinguished health care personnel who are able to provide outreach services, medical advice, and free therapeutic services for smokers". Furthermore, the Vice - President for Health Specialties indicated that patients were received and those in charge started registering their information in utmost confidentiality. Then the smoker is directed to nursing clinic to measure vital signs, such as pulse, temperature and blood pressure. After that, the smoker is directed to the treatment unit where specialists conduct examination, or provide medical advice, and prescribe appropriate treatment program according to each case.

On the other hand, Al jelban also opened two clinics. The first was the psychiatry clinic under the supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Mohammed Al-Qahtani, and the other was the psychotherapy clinic, which is overseen by Dr. Saeed Al-ahmari, and the psychologist Musa Alnaji.

In turn, the Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Merra bin Saad Al Habash emphasized that the exchange of experiences and visits, and the intensification of educational courses were behind the achievement. He further pointed out that opening clinics to help quit smoking, medicine, and psychotherapy clinics in the University City in Abha has made necessary medical services available to all patients. In addition, opening such clinics has integrated the medical services with other medical specialties to establish the concept of social biological integration among members of the community, under the slogan "Who owns will have the power"
