More than SR 225.000 for the University Cultural Olympiad.

The Dean of Student Affairs of King Khalid University, Dr. Maraa Saad Al-Habash has stated that fair competition is of great importance in discovering skills, so that they can be developed and highlighted in a competitive and challenging atmosphere. He explained that the sum of the awards of the first Cultural Olympiad for university students would exceed SR 225.000. Earlier, he reported, "Believing in the role of Deanship of Student Affairs in discovering, exposing and evaluating different talents, the Deanship sought to hold the first cultural Olympiad for the university students. The Deanship worked hard to diversify fields so as to absorb a large segment of students and  to accommodate their talents and interests; the competition included 16 competitive fields." He continued: "There is no doubt that the colleges will be the best sources to push students to participate actively and the stakeholders have the capability of helping the students to realize their energies, which definitely, will have the delightful impact on the college which will eventually win the President's shield for culture and creativity. As it - the winning college - will be the focus of the student activity for a year because of the potential and promising energies it already owned.

 The Dean showed that the Deanship has provided 16 competitive fields including: the Quran, the Sunnah, cultural competitions, recitation, the recitational operetta, poetry, classic poetry, community service, documentaries, calligraphy, plastic painting, cartooning, photography, visual imaging, as well as digital art (designs). Some of these are within the contests of the Competitive Scientific Conference for Higher Education students in the Kingdom.

 Regarding participation regulations, The Deanship Vice - President for the student activities, Dr. Nasser Al Qomishan reported that the competition was restricted to university students who are attending undergraduate diploma stage. Participation could be only in maximum two areas of competition, and the faculty has the right to participate in all areas or some of them. Participations are also committed to regulations and dates of the competition according to the regulation prepared for that, besides the commitment to Islamic values and academic and university controls.  The Vice-President stressed on a regulation of not participating in another competition or obtaining an award. Moreover, plagiarized works, wholly or partially, will be excluded except that was incorporated to serve the text and the idea.

The Deanship explained that the deadline for receiving participants' forms, and areas of participations will be on 5/2/14336AH , noting that the Cultural Olympiad will be held from 23 to 25 Safar in the Gym of the University, Al-Jrijr.
