The opening of the University Healthcare Systems Conference: concept and message.
His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, the Governor of Asir Region, has sponsored the opening of University Healthcare Systems Conference "concept and message", which is organized by King Khalid University, during the period from 21 to 22 Shaban, 1437 AH. Upon his Royal Highness's arrival to the venue of the occasion, the ceremony began with recitation ofsome verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a documentary film about the conference, and about the University Medical City. Then, His Excellency, the Rector of the King Khalid University, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Dawo0d gave a word in which he expressed his thanks to the sponsor of the event, Prince Faisal bin Khalid, the Governor of Asir region. Prof. Al Dawood also clarified that it was the first time in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to hold such a conference.
Al Dawood: the university is proud of being the first in holding such conferences, seminars, and scientific meetings
Al Dawood talked about how the university was proud of being the first to organize such conferences, seminars and scientific meetings that hadnever been organized by others. The Rector continued "this is all due first, to the grace of God, then to the great support the University is receiving from our wise leadership, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince, His Royal Highness, Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdul Aziz, and the Deputy Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, in addition to the special support of His Royal Highness, the Governor of Asir region, who made it his personal duty to always care, to always attend and to always support all events of the university". Rector Al Dawood further thanked all the participants at the conference that came from all over the world. As well, the Rector thanked the holders of the conference led by the Vice - President for Health Specialties, Dr. Khalid Bin Saad Al Jelban, The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the University Medical City, Dr. Fuad Bin Idriss Abag, and all workers and committees members involved. The Rector concluded his speech by hoping the participants could reach beneficial and practical scientific recommendations. He also wished the conference would achieve its objectives. Prof. Al Dawood stressed, "At any occasion, we should not forget our soldiers who are stationed on the southern borders. Instead, we should pray for their victory and empowerment, praying to Allah to keep them save and to bring them back safe and sound, and to spread mercy on our martyrs, to heal the wounded, to save our home, and to perpetuate the blessings of security and safety in the light of our wise leadership."
After that, the President of the Scientific Committee of the Conference, Dr. Fuad Abag gave a word in which he explained thus " we are witnessing an unprecedented revival at all levels in the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz; the educational revolution is an evidence. Within a short time, Medical colleges have exceeded 30 colleges in number; still, it has become necessary to build university hospitals to train students in a scientific atmosphere so as to maintain the quality and safety required. From this point, there was an approval to establish 19 university hospitals". Dr. Abag also clarified that the health sector was facing major challenges worldwide in light of changes and fluctuations in the global economy. Hence the suggestion by King Khalid University to bring together a number of scientists, professors and experts, from within and from outside the Kingdom, to discuss strategic directions that would ensure the best use of resources and the most appropriate means to fund hospitals to ensure continuation in the provision of health and educational services, and to research efficiency, and to improve it. Finally, Dr. Abag hoped that conference would produce recommendations to help in figuring a road map that forms university health system, in particular, and the public health system, in general.
For his part, the Vice - President of Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University for Development and Quality, Dr. Khalid Abdul Ghaffar, delivered the spokesmen's word, in which he expressed his happiness about that important scientific conference, which was being organized by King Khalid University at that round. He pointed out that the speakers came from several countries and regions, carrying with them a lot of researches and experiments, which would benefit the conference in return. Dr. Abdul Ghaffar stressed that, that meeting was to share experiences, and creative ideas for health education in Saudi Arabia in all transparency and in goodwill, noting that before two years, the Ministry of Education had adopted a project of university hospitals system, and committees had begun working. In addition, the Ministry had signed an agreement which had had a lot of leading projects in the health sector, wishing the continuation of such projects and agreements.
Subsequently, His Highness the Governor of Asir Region, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal, honored the speakers and participants. On the occasion, His Excellency, - the Governor - received a commemorative gift from the Rector of the University.
At the end of the ceremony, His Highness the Governor, and His Excellency, the Rector of King Khalid University, witnessed the signing of a partnership agreement between the university and the Saudi Red Crescent Authority. The King Khalid University was represented at the signing by the Vice - President for Health Specialties, Dr. Khalid Al jelban, while Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Asiri represented the Red Crescent Authority.
