King Khalid University Vice Rector, His Excellency Prof. Muhammad Ali Al-Hasoon, attended the iT Administration's closing ceremony of IObootamp 2.0. The purpose of the bootcamp was to provide students a platform to showcase their tech prowess and assist them in achieving their aspirations in cooperation with the Badir Technology Incubators and Accelerators Program in Abha. Vice Rector Al-Hasoon related that he was pleased with the nascent programming talents developed by an expert team from the iT Administration.

 

During the ceremony, CIO, Dr. Salem Alelyani, thanked the trainers representing King Khalid University and the Badir Abha Incubator for providing a set of diversified training sessions to foster and develop ideas into promising technical enterprises. CIO Alelyani praised the creativity of the program, noting that the outstanding efforts exerted by the trainers focused on programming, entrepreneurship, and design thinking.

 

Vice Rector Al-Hasoon: We're really proud of the outcomes of this camp, particularly with the work that we're doing in cooperation with the Badir Technology Incubators and Accelerators Program, and providing innovative coding education in the region.

 

As part of the IObootamp 2.0's focus on programming, entrepreneurship and design thinking, the stage was set for 6 finalists to deliver presentations on their projects. Of noteworthy mention, the projects selected for display illustrated that they will add to the thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem being built in the region.

 

Here are the top emerging projects to watch in 2020:

 

Orchid

Orchid is a platform for makeup artists and hairstylists. Orchid's networking capabilities provide a central contact system for business owners to exchange services, ideas, and business development opportunities.

 

 

Tech Skills

Tech Skills is an education platform with a regional focus that focuses on e-learning to promote the acquisition of in-demand skills. Its main purpose is centered on connecting learners and educators vis-à-vis small private online courses (SPOCs) for those who prefer one-on-one private lessons.

 

Badra e-Shop

Badra e-Shop is an e-commerce site with a local focus. Badra e-Shop enables businesses and craftsmen to be more efficient, scale, and sell bespoke products and artwork.

 

Sahim

Sahim is a volunteer management platform. Sahim technology matches volunteers to opportunities that match their skill set.

 

EVA Creative

EVA Creative is a platform that brings coffee and art connoisseurs together to share ideas and expertise. EVA Creative matches interests and preferences to public activities and events.

 

HAN

HAN is an e-commerce platform with a family focus. HAN connects family businesses with customers across industries.

 

At the close of the ceremony, Vice CIO, Dr. Mohammed Al-Saqr, provided closing remarks on the program. Vice CIO Al-Saqr noted that King Khalid University is dedicated to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship to empower students and fuel the growth of the region's SME (small and medium enterprises) sector.

King Khalid University has organized the IObootcamp final project display ceremony. The ceremony will take place on the 24th of July at Abha Palace Hotel.

 

CIO, Dr. Salem Alelyani, called on all interested faculty members and staff to attend the graduation ceremony, which will include the camp's projects and final presentations. CIO Alelyani explained that the camp has achieved great success in its second edition.

ودعا المشرف على معسكر التدريب البرمجي الدكتور سالم بن فائز العلياني منسوبي الجامعة والمهتمين بالمجال إلى حضور حفل تخريج المتدربين والمتدربات والاطلاع على المعرض المصاحب ومشاريع المتدربين المنجزة في هذا المعسكر، لافتًا إلى ما حققه المعسكر من مخرجات مميزة.

The iT Administration at King Khalid University concluded the Coding Bootcamp Program, a collaboration between King Khalid University and the Asir GEEKS Association. The Bader Technology Incubator Program hosted the bootcamp under the auspices of His Excellency Dr. Saad Muhammad Du'ajim, Vice Rector of Academic Affairs.

The coding bootcamp is an exciting initiative offered by the iT Administration based on developing a scalable and competitive workforce in accord with Vision 2030. It employed an accelerated learning model by immersing participants in group activities, specialists from the field, and offering topics such as design thinking, building work models, and information security. The coding bootcamp team included ten trainees, ten instructors, and supervisors from the university. 

In the first stage of the program, 25 individual projects were presented, where trainees applied the skills and techniques they had learned, which included web analysis, building an idea and designing models, followed by building websites and finally creating applications.

The closing ceremony included five team application projects ready to be launched in the digital market; the applications covered travel, social networking, coffee lovers, woman's lifestyle, and a guide to the region.

اختتمت الادارة العامة لتقنية المعلومات اعمال المعسكر التدريبي البرمجي IObootcamp، بالتعاون مع عسير جيكس وباستضافة من برنامج بادر لحاضنات التقنية بعسير، وذلك بحضور وكيل الجامعة للشؤون الاكاديمية والتعليمية الدكتور سعد بن محمد بن دعجم.

وتأتي مشاركة الادارة العامة لتقنية المعلومات كمبادرة منها للمساهمة في ما يخدم رؤية المملكة ٢٠٣٠ بتمكين الشباب والشابات في المجال التقني، حيث اشتمل المعسكر التقني العديد من الفعاليات الخارجية بالإضافة الى الاستضافة للمختصين والمختصات في جوانب عديدة منها التفكير التصميمي وبناء نموذج العمل، وأمن المعلومات السيبراني، وبلغ عدد المشاركين النهائي ١٥ مشاركاً من فئة الشباب ومختلف المهارات والتخصصات، بالإضافة الى ١٠ شابات، وبإشراف من ١٠ مدربين، ومدربات من ذوي الاختصاص والمهارات بالإضافة الى مشرفين من الجامعة.

وكانت الانطلاقة ب ٢٥ مشروعاً فردياً لكافة المشاركين والمشاركات لتطبيق المهارات التقنية والتي شملت تحليل المواقع، وبناء الفكرة وتصميم النموذج الأولي ثم الانتقال الى بناء الموقع على المتصفح واخرها بناء التطبيق للخدمة.

وشهد حفل الختام للمشاريع عرض ٥ مشاريع جماعية جاهزة لسوق العمل ، حول خطة السفر، المنصة الاجتماعية التفاعلية ”دال“ ، سمراء لعشاق القهوة، ومنصة المرأة ثم دليل عسير السياحي.
