A study to establish a College for Tourism and Antiquities.

In the bid to provide specialized outputs services to Tourism, King Khalid University (KKU) made a study to establish a college for Tourism and Antiquities.

King Khalid University began the study of establishing of a College for Tourism, Antiquities and architectural heritage, as well as for providing specialized training programs for students in that field. In this regard, the university invited experts and specialists from the field to present papers on architectural heritage. It also offered faculty members and university students the opportunity to participate in field visits to architectural heritage sites.

KKU President Prof. Abdulrahman Bin Hamad Al Daoud, confirmed the University would begin working on the study of establishing the college according to the procedures and criteria of the Ministry of Higher Education, which must be adhered to.

The president explained that the university sought, through a memorandum of cooperation which was signed recently with Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities, to create specializations for graduates to achieve goals of tourism commission by their outputs, thus benefiting the citizens of this country. He expressed his happiness for signing the memorandum of cooperation which included many areas related to tourism.

The signed memorandum called for many things, among them:

-The exchange of information and expertise between the University and Centre for Tourism Information and Tourism Research Center (MAS).

-Organizing events and activities that have positive impact on the tourism attractions sites of Asir region.

-The implementation of studies and statistics, and study the economic, social and environmental impact of events, activities and tourism programs.

 Organizing of courses and training programs for professionals in tourism related activities.

-The restoration of historic sites.

-Cooperation in the preparation of studies and in the integrated plans to the heritage buildings and sites in what is suitable to their Architectural composition while maintaining their authenticity and identity. And 

-The development of the cultural heritage and its preservation relative to the scientific and human possibilities of the university.
