Rector Sponsors the First Scientific Forum of Departments Heads

His Excellency, Prof. Dr. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solamy, the Rector of King Khalid University, recently sponsored the First Scientific Forum of Departments Heads, under the title "The Role of the Scientific Departments and the Necessity for Effective Leadership in the University." The Deanship of Personnel Affairs, in the presence of a number of the University's Deans, Heads of Scientific Departments, and relevant stakeholders, organized the event.

At the beginning of his speech, Rector Al-Solamy said, "This forum is just the beginning of frequent plenary meetings with employees of the University, both at the level of faculty members or employees." He stressed the importance of starting the meeting with the heads of scientific departments because of its high importance as it opens the path towards openness and flexibility in dialogue. He insisted that we are all partners in the strategic development of any academic affair.

Al-Solamy added, "The University has taken an essential step in the unification of the scientific departmental units between the two sections of male and female students. It is a natural progression as they study the same curriculum and should have the conditions, rules, and regulations."

Rector Al-Solamy noted that University Vice-Presidency for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research and the Vice-Presidency for Academic and Educational Affairs are collaboratively working on the sustainable development of study plans in the scientific departments. He further pointed out that the source of these studies originates from the scientific departments themselves. He added, "We heavily rely on these areas because the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is on the verge of a historic shift in technologically advanced university systems.”

Rector Al-Solamy added, "King Khalid University is one of the major universities in the Kingdom, and we hope that it will be among the leading universities. We aim to be respected on the international level for pioneering research."

For his part, the Vice-President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Saad Al-Omari, said that the University had been classified in the field of scientific research and the Vice-Presidency has started to build its strategies. Dr. Al-Omari indicated that the University contains all of the necessary infrastructures of facilities and laboratories, in addition to the investment in first-class scientific cadres through scholarship programs.

Al-Omari added that the University is developing its programs, updating its data and developing its outputs, as well as introducing new programs, both academic and fee-driven programs. He said that in the near future there would be exciting and unique development programs.

The University Vice-President for Educational and Academic affairs said that the University launched the first operational plan for the development and establishment of world-class academic programs. 
To conclude, he reiterated that developmental programs are promising and many departments have gone to great lengths in pursuit of excellence.
