University holds a symposium on the role of universities in promoting dialogue among civilizations.

King Khalid University (KKU) plans to hold a symposium on "The role of universities in promoting dialogue among civilizations", from 14 to 15 Rab'e Al-Awal 1438 AH, with the participation of a number of fathoms home, through worksheets and research studies about the topics of the symposium.

The Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the symposium, Dr. Saleh Abu Arad, has said that the Committee continued its meetings during the previous period, for ending arbitration proceedings for the scientific posts of the symposium. He further stressed that a group of distinguished dignities, on the national level were going to take part in the event - God willing. The number of approved posts has reached 29 in number. Posts include worksheets that dea with different aspects of the main themes identified by the symposium.

Dr. Abu Arad explained that the posts would represent the Kingdom's universities and some of the actors involved in the subject, and in particular that "the symposium is gaining its important character from the sensitive nature of the current stage in our dear country, which emphasizes the importance of strengthening dialogue in order to co-exist and to work to accept others' positive views, in addition to the importance of highlighting and discussing the varied efforts exerted by universities in this important intellectual and educational field".

It is noteworthy that the symposium aims to contribute to spreading the culture of dialogue among civilizations and the definition of its meaning, its importance, its objectives, its history, and its stages. The symposium also aims to learn about the diverse dimensions of the dialogue of civilizations in our contemporary life; these dimensions which are comprehensive for the various areas of life. Moreover, the event aims to highlight the role of universities in cherishing the dialogue of civilizations, in exploring the future role hopefully, in addition to highlighting the role of joint academic requirements in their programs and their impact in highlighting Islamic identity, as well as exchange views and benefit from scientific insights, experience and expertise relevant to the topic of the dialogue of civilizations at the university level, and put forward views related to the issues of religious and cultural coexistence among followers of civilizations .
