Under the patronage of His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Asir Region - may Allah protect him - King Khalid University, represented by Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Research and Environmental Studies Center, organizes the First Saudi Conference for Environment, under the slogan of "The Sustainable Exploitation of Natural Resources." The occasion is being participated by 229 specialists in environmental affairs. It is taking place in the period of 27 - 29 of Jumada Al-Awwal 1437 AH.

His Excellency, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hanmad Al Dawood, the President of the University (KKU), who is also the General Supervisor of the Conference, clarified that the patronage of His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Asir Region, was continuation for his profound and permanent attention to all university's activities, and what is related to the public interest. He said: "His Excellency's patronage comes as an indication to his important and active role in the preservation of the environment, where the award of the environment conservation and development was founded by His Excellency in Abha".

President Al Dawood clarified that the First Saudi Conference for Environment - that was intended to be organized by the university - was based on previous studies, which showed the importance of conducting it, of the need to raise the awareness about it, and of getting the maximum benefits from our natural resources, and never neglecting it.
President Al Dawood added: "Asir Region is characterized by its climatic and geographical diversity (mountains, and coastal and marine), which make the university seeks to organize such as this conference, with the hope to achieve the desired results".

The Vice President for High Studies and Scientific Research, who is the Deputy General Supervisor of the Conference, Dr. Majid bin Abdul Karim Al Harbi, pointed out that the patronage of His Highness, the Governor of Asir Region, was an honor for the University and for the Conference. Dr. Al Harbi added that it was support for that important event, "the conference gets its significance through the rapid increase and over exploitation of natural resources, and the human activities accompanying. These are considered to be one of the key causes of the problems of contemporary global environment, such as climate change and diminishing biodiversity, as well as the increase in desertification rate, in addition to water, air, and soil pollution in Saudi Arabia in general, and in the Asir Region in particular".

Dr. Al Harbi said that those invited to the conference were specialists’ speakers from all over the globe, from the Arab - Islamic world - including those from within the Kingdom. He concluded by clarifying that there would be an exhibition during the period of the conference.

In the same context, The Director of the Prince Sultan Research Center for Environment, Prof. Dr. Hussein Wadi'i, clarified that the Scientific Committee, headed by the Vice President for High Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Majid Al Harbi, designed the slogan of the conference to reflect its axis and objectives, as well as its leaflet and website.

Prof. Dr Al Wadi'i indicated that the applications for participation in the conference reached 370 in number, which covered the conference terms. He added that it was selected after the evaluation of 69 research papers and stickers from outside the Kingdom (Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Sudan, Jordan, Yemen, Pakistan, India). He pointed out that the accepted internal application for participation were 160 including those from a large number of Saudi universities.

It worth mentioning that the sessions will begin with general main session from 9 am to 10:15 am, provided by conference guests (main speakers). The first day will also include four sessions (after the main session), to be provided by the participants of research papers, and working papers from the outside and from inside the kingdom, and 4 sessions on the second day (after the main session), to be provided by the participants of research papers, and working papers from the outside, and from inside the Kingdom. The third day will start with main session, to be followed by participants’ papers session, and finally the recommendations session.

The Rector of King Khalid University who is also the General Supervisor of the conference, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Bin Hamad Al Dawood, has confirmed that Prince Faisal Bin Khalid's patronage of the conference is a continuation of His Highness' unwavering support to all activities related to King Khalid University, and all things that are of benefit and of interest to the public. The Rector said, "The Prince's patronage comes to prove His Highness' care of environment, it is a known fact that the prize of environment preservation and development in Abha has been created by His Royal Highness." Rector Al Dawood further clarified that the 1st Environmental Conference that the University was intending to hold is based on previous studies, which insisted on the importance of holding such conference, and the awareness to the numerous benefits from our natural resources, so that we do not neglect them.  Rector Al Dawood added, "Asir region enjoys climatic diversity (mountainous, coastal, and marine), which induced the university to hold such conference. We wish this Conference success"

For his part, the University Vice - President for Research and Scientific Research, who is also the Deputy of the General Supervisor of the conference, Dr. Majid bin Abdul Karim Al Harbi, emphasized that it was an honor for the University that the Governor of Asir region is patronizing and supporting the conference. Dr. Al Harbi said, "The conference gains its reputation from the rapid increase and excessiveness in using natural resources and from the accompanying human habits, which are considered one of the key causes of current environmental problems, such as Climate change, diminishing biodiversity, increase in the rate of desertification, water pollution, air pollution, and soil pollution in Saudi Arabia in general, and in the Asir region in particular." Dr. Al Harbi stated that he has invited a number of spokesmen from the Islamic and Arab worlds, who are specialized in environment issues, as well as spokesmen from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He also stated that there would be an accompanying exhibition during the period of holding the conference.

It is worth mentioning that the sessions of the conference will start with a main general session which will be from 9 a.m. to 10.15 a.m. and it will be presented by the guests of the conference (main spokesmen). The first day of the conference will include 4 sessions, after the main session. These 4 sessions will be presented by those who are participating with research papers and worksheets, from inside and outside the Kingdom. The second day of the conference will witness another 4 sessions, after the main session of the day. They are going to be presented by those who are participating with research papers and worksheets, from inside and outside the Kingdom. The third day starts with a main session, followed by a session for the participants' papers, and finally a session for recommendations.

King Khalid University (KKU), represented by the university agency for Health Specializations, is organizing a conference titled 'University Health Systems: Identity and Message.' The conference which will hold in the period between 21 and 22 Jumadah Al Thani 1437 AH, will take place in Abha. Activities at the conference will include lectures, workshops and scientific researches for two days.

The conference aims, at developing the concept of health systems in the universities, at clarifying the balance mechanism between health education and scientific research, at the provision of services, at defining the role of health systems in universities within the public health system, and at studying the sources of sustainable financing of university health systems and identifying the most suitable means for studying the academic health systems, as well as presenting the scope of health systems in universities, and the degrees and levels of the services provided. It also aims at exploring the future of university health service in the Kingdom and its impact, as well as determining the standards of successes of the university health systems.

It’s worth mentioning that the topics and the axes of the conference depends on the axis of the available health systems, the universities choices and the axis of balance between health education, scientific researches and the health services, as well as the axis of health system integration in universities with general health system, and administrating and financing of the health systems in the universities, in addition to future health services and their impact on the health care in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

King Khalid University (KKU), represented by the Stem Cell Unit of the Faculty of Medicine, participated with four scientific papers in the World Conference of Stem Cells, which was held in Atlanta City, Georgia, USA. The conference is one of the largest practical conferences in the world, in which specialized scientists from around the world participate. In this conference, the following entities participated: stem cells team in California (CIRM), Harvard University as well as many scientists from Japan and Europe.

The conference witnessed a proposal to a research on the impact of the lack of oxygen on the quality and growth of stem cells that are extracted from the umbilical cord, which is considered the main source for stem cells. In the study, samples were collected from Gynecology and obstetrics Hospital in Abha, and were compared with that which exists on the ground level. Results proved no differences with impressive value of the growth and the quality of umbilical cord cells at a high level above the ground.

The second research made a comparison between the effect of the difference in congruence between HLA on the stem cell transplant on cancer and non-cancer diseases. The research found that in non-cancerous diseases, the rate of rejection of stem cell transplantation is less than in cancerous cells, in the case of mismatches between the donor and the receiver in HLA. The third research was about a reference study for the role of transplantation of stem cells that are extracted from the umbilical cord during the formation and growth of organs. The fourth search was about the role of the proportion and number of live stem cells before planting in the success of stem cell transplantation.

It is noteworthy that the team which represented the university was comprised of Dr. Ahmed bin Musa Alhakmi, the Head of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, who is also the Supervisor of the Stem Cell Unit, Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Harish Chandromorvi, from the Department of Microorganisms, Dr. Ejaz Ahmad, from the Department of Physiology, as well as students, Ahmed Al-Rubei, Hussein Khariri, and Abdul Majeed Ba Junaid. The Unit of Stem Cells participated before, with a research in the previous conference held in San Diego. Furthermore, a previous research of the unit has been published on the impact of "Differentiated Mesenchymal Stem Cells" in reducing the complications of diabetes on vascular. The research was published in a global magazine called, "Cell and Tissue Research" in its version No. 359. The magazine is a prestigious magazine with a highly scientific Influence (IF 3.6). Currently, the unit is seeking for support from the King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology to provide a number of research Projects in addition to the support expected from the university for a number of projects that have been set up to be raised in the current year, God willing.

King Khalid University (KKU), represented by the Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz Center for Environmental Research and Studies, is organizing the 1st Saudi Environmental Conference under the title, "The sustainable Management of natural resources." The conference is going to take place in Abha City from 27 to 29 Jummadh Al awal. The purpose of holding the conference is to support the national economy by applying the concepts of the environmental sustainability, especially in the area of natural resources, and to identify threats to the environment locally, regionally, and globally, as well as to identify the environmental pollution and modern techniques of addressing its risks.

Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Center for Environmental Tourism Research and Studies has identified several axis through which scientific papers and debates will be put forward. As an example, natural resources axis, "optimization of power, wet lands, forests, nature reserves, and pastures, "technology enhanced sustainability of natural resources and, environmental economics." The axis of global warming and climate changes, "desertification, drought, floods, the impact of climate changes on living things, ways to reduce and mitigate the effects of global warming". The third axis will focus on biodiversity, "the depletion of biodiversity factors, the protection of ecosystems and endangered species, and preservation of germplasm". The fourth axis will focus on environmental pollution, and ways of its treatment (air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, environmental waste, pollution and its impact on living things). The last axis will be related to the prevention of environmental risks (environmental predictions and scenarios, environmental planning, and environmental safety).

His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal Bin Khalid Bin Abdul Aziz, the governor of Asir Region, has inaugurated the 1st Dental Conference, which has been organized by the King Khalid University, represented by the Dentistry School. The conference is launched today, Thursday 12, November 2015 AD, and is taking place in Abha Palace Hotel.

On his arrival to the venue of the occasion, Prince Faisal inaugurated an exhibition that accompanied the conference. The exhibition included 28 corners for the most popular entities in the field of dentistry. His Excellency - the Governor - was also briefed on 90 scientific posters presented by participants from within and FROM outside the Kingdom and University students. After that, the sponsor of the event, Prince Faisal Bin Khalid, was directed to the a hall where the Dean of Dentistry School, who is also the Head of the Scientific Committee of the Conference, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Shahrani, gave a welcome address to the sponsor of the event and the guests. Dr. Al-Shaahrani confirmed in his speech, that "Intentionally, the Dentistry School is ready for all changes and scientific developments on a local and global basis in order to achieve the goals and mission of the University". He added, "Holding such a conference activates the School's role in serving the community, and it - the conference - strengthens communication between the King Khalid University (KKU) and local and international universities. Furthermore, the conference aims to give the dentists a chance to meet professional experts in the field so as to spread best practices that are approved internationally". He further stated, "The conference is hosting 26 international and local spokesmen with the attendance of 700 participants who are going to present 90 scientific posters, in addition to 2 seminars, 5 workshops for 100 dentists, and a student exhibition, which is first of its kind, to help the visitors of the conference". 24 training hours were accredited by the Saudi Health Specialties Commission to those who attend the conference. On behalf of the spokesmen, Dr. Abdullah Al-Shamri gave a word saying, "On behalf of myself and the spokesmen, I would like to express my pleasure with the event, in which a group of professionals participated to benefit those who are in the field."

In his turn, the KKU President, Prof. Abdulrahman Bin Hamad Al dawood gave a speech in which he welcomed the sponsor of the conference. The President said, "On behalf of the KKU stakeholders, I would like to welcome your Royal Highness in Abha - the city of tourism." He added, "King Khalid University is one of the biggest universities in the Kingdom; it concludes more than 40 schools with more than 70,000 students and 8000 professors and administrators." President Al dawood added, "Today, we are pleased with you sponsorship to the 1st Dental Conference in King Khalid University, which seeks to meet its scientific, research, and social vision and mission. The conference is the first dental conference in the southern province. So, we hope it could develop our educational, professional and research systems locally and internationally as the conference hosts scientists, professionals, and researchers in the field of dentistry. Guests will discuss successful national and international experiences, and they will come out with recommendations that will definitely benefit the people of the Kingdom as well as those the world over." The University President further clarified that the University has achieved enormous achievements - thanks to God - first, then to the unwavering support of the Kingdom leader, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, and the support of the Crown Prince, His Royal Highness, Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdul Aziz, and that of the Deputy crown Prince, His royal Highness, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz. President Al dawood thanked Asir Governor for his continued support to the institution in all its activities. He said, "Based on previous experiences and on your sponsorship to the 1st dental conference, your Royal Highness proved that you cherish science and support it unlimitedly, in addition to King Khalid University stakeholders."

The University President further thanked the participants of the conference, those from within and from outside the Kingdom, for their attendance and interaction with the conference and its activities. The President also thanked all the heads of the scientific committees. He said, "I would like to thank in particular, the Head of the Organizational Committee, the University Vice - President for Health Specialties, Dr. Khalid Al Jelban. Also, I would like to thank the Head of the Scientific Committee, the Dean of Dentistry School, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Shahrani." President Al dawood concluded his speech announcing that, "Priority in medical services is for families of martyrs and soldiers on the southern borders, as part of services that King Khalid University offers to this precious segment of our society."

After the speech of the University President, the sponsor of the occasion, His Royal Highness, Price Faisal Bin Khalid, and the guests watched a documentary video about the Dentistry School. The video demonstrated that the school included 326 clinics that serve the university stakeholders and the community. Clinics of the Dentistry School offer many medical services related to the health of mouth and teeth, in addition to other awareness services to the Asiri community.

At the end of the occasion, His Royal Highness, Price Faisal Bin Khalid, honored sponsorship entities. The event also witnessed signing of a cooperation agreement between the Institute of Counseling Studies and Research and the Intellectual awareness Unit of King Khalid University.

The Conference comes under the tittle "the New Era of Dentistry within its International Dimension", and it will take place in Abha Palace Hotel on Thursday, November 12, 2015, AD.

The President of King Khalid University, Prof. Abdulrahman Bin Hamad Al dawood has thanked the sponsor of the conference for his generous care and unwavering support to the activities of University; the activities that enable it to perform its educational and social missions. President Al dawood said, "His Highness, Prince Faisal's sponsorship of the event is a reflection to his majesty's interest in science" The President further clarified that the University of King Khalid plays a great role in providing its student with modern knowledge. He said, "Increasingly, the University depends on the scientific partnership it entered with various international and local entities in order to maximize the scientific output of King Khalid University stakeholders."

For his part, the University Vice - President for Medical Specialties who is also the Head of the Conference Organization Committee, Prof. Khalid Al Jelban, confirmed that the conference "is expected to introduce many dentists of the university and the region". He added, "The conference is a good chance for the university to elaborate its potentials in the scientific arena." Prof.  Al Jelban clarified that Conference would also participate in energizing conference tourism, which aims at introducing the region locally and internationally. Regarding the organizational side, Prof. Al Jelban stated that there were auditoriums for men and for women that were prepared for lectures and for discussing researches, in addition to holding an exhibition that would provide presentations by a number of international entities that are specialized in dental tools. In addition, the conference would include medical education exhibitions in dentistry. The Head of the Organizational Committee praised the large turnout of the specialized entities to the conference from within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and from outside of it. In that case, the university seeks to provide enough areas to receive all applied entities. Prof. Al jelban pointed out to the workshops that were going to accompany the conference which would be presented by guests from the United States of America (USA), the United Arab Emirate (UAE) , and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The workshops will  take place in the clinics of the Dentistry School in the University City in Abha. The aim of conducting such workshops is to enable dentists to achieve the highest benefit, as these workshops will offer the latest developments in the field of dentistry. In addition, the workshops are a precious opportunity to the postgraduate students.

On his turn, the dean of Dentistry School, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Shahrani, who is heading the Scientific Committee of the Conference, emphasized that the conference was the first of its kind in the Southern region, saying "I expect the conference will witness a large turnout from within the Kingdom and outside of it." The Dean further stated that 25 invitations were sent to participants from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United States of America, and the United Arab Emirate. In addition, throughout the days of the conference, a program for scientific lectures is going to be arranged alongside the conference, as well as two seminars in medical education and dental protective medicine. Moreover, 85 scientific posters are going to be displayed, and an exhibition, offering the latest dental technology, is also arranged. The Dean stated, "Before the start of the conference, 5 specialized workshops are going to be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, AD."

King Khalid University (KKU) has received via its portal, more than 700 applications for participation in the first international Dental Conference, which is being organized by the University, represented by the Dentistry School. The conference, which will be launched next Thursday 12/11/2015 AD, and which will last for two days, comes under the title "New era of dentistry in its international dimension".  

In turn, the Dean of Dentistry, who is also the Head of the Scientific Committee of the Conference, Dr. Ibrahim Alshahrani stated thus, "As at this day, 600 applications for participation in the conference have been received, in addition to 200 applications to attend workshops." He pointed out that the conference " is expected to witness a high attendance, regarding to the necessity of such conferences to dentists". He added, "University welcomes anyone who would like to participate in the conference and its activities. Registration is available till the next Wednesday 11/11/201 AD via the conference website.

His Excellency King Khalid University (KKU) President, Prof. Abdulrahman Bin Hamad Aldawood participated in the general education evaluation conference; an entrance to Quality and development. The conference is sponsored by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, and was inaugurated by His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal Bin Bandar Bin Abdul Aziz, the Governor of Riyadh province. International and Saudi spokesmen participated in the conference. They handled the idea of evaluation to get benefit out of successful international experiments, and they showed how to take part in developing the criteria of educational curriculum, programs, and practices. In addition, they aimed at spreading the culture of evaluation among those who are in the education field, looking forward to making partnerships with universities, bodies, and specialized research centers.

The conference was organized by the general education evaluation entity within its serious efforts to achieve quality in education, in addition to elevating its level to reach global competitive standards. Arranging such conferences proved the responsibility taken on the shoulder of the general education evaluation entity. The entity seeks to evaluate education system and tries to guarantee its quality. Moreover, the entity sets up main criteria and indicators that will evaluate governmental and private schools performance, in addition to establishing criteria for the general education curriculum and setting up the national legalized examinations to all stages of education.

King Khalid University (KKU), represented by the College of Dentistry, continues its preparations for the organization of a world event representing the First International Dental Conference. The event is going to take place in Abha Palace Hotel from 30/1 to 02/02/1437 AH, corresponding to 12 - 14 / 11 / 2015 AD. The Conference is adopting the title "The new era of dentistry in its global dimension"

On the occasion, the Vice - President of Medical Specialties and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee Prof. Khalid Al jelban stressed that the establishment of such a global conference would add a lot to the dentists at the university and all over the region, believing that they would be able to take advantage of the experiences of dentists who are participating in the conference and who have international experience in the field. In addition, the Conference provides a full opportunity for the University to highlight its available potential, and to demonstrate its strong presence on the scientific arena.

Al jelban confirmed that the conference would provide its services to the region by supporting the revitalization of conference tourism, which aims at introducing the province regionally and globally. The purpose is to demonstrate the potential of the region, in line with the approach of the university.

The King Khalid University establishes such international conferences, which affects positively, first, the Kingdom, and then the region, to provide many research partnerships, innovations in addition to holding advanced global partnerships. On the organizational side of the conference, Prof. Al Jelban pointed out that "there are a number of halls prepared for the lectures and research discussions, for men and women. Furthermore, it is prepared to have an exhibition that will accompany the Conference.  The exhibition aim is to display a number of presentations provided by a number of international companies that are specialized in the areas of processing of medical Dental tools. Also, there are going to be exhibitions for medical education in the field of teeth". Prof. Al jelban further stated that "a lot of companies that are specialized in dentistry are showing their interests in participating in the exhibition, within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and from outside of it". The Professor added that "the university tries to provide sufficient space to receive all companies that applied. He further announced conducting a number of workshops that are going to be provided by a number of guest professors from the United States of America, the United Arab Emirates, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia", adding that "the Workshops will take place in the clinics of the Dentistry School in the University City in Abha, saying further that "the university seeks, from these workshops, benefits for dentists and specialists, as they are specialized workshops on the latest developments in dentistry". Finally, Prof. Al jelban pointed out that the conference would provide a very valuable opportunity for students and graduate studies students attending the workshops
