Founding of the Society
The Saudi Physics Society was founded in
King Khalid University in 1422H, and was
approved by the University Board on 16/11/1422H by decision number
(15-3-1422/1423H). The Society strives to provide interaction routes
between those interested in the different fields of the physical
sciences, by organizing and holding conferences in the physical
sciences field and methods of teaching physics. The society also
strives to support and strengthen cooperation between researchers in
the different fields of the physical sciences, inside and
outside the Kingdom.
Physical Sciences
- Physics and all its specializations
- The sciences connected to the field of
physics which might help in developing physics from the
theoretical or applied aspect, such as medical physics,
biophysics, chemical physics, applied math, optics and other
sciences related to topics in physics
Goals of the Society
- Promoting scientific research in the
different fields of physical sciences in the Kingdom, and working
to advance and raise it to a level where it can compete with
international scientific research
- Achieving scientific communication between
members of the Society, and strengthening cooperation between the
universities and society
- Offering scientific consultation in the
different fields of physical sciences
- Developing the scientific and professional
performance of the members of the Society, and exchanging
knowledge about the best ways for teaching the topics of physical
sciences and the society’s need for them
- Encouraging the exchange of scientific and
research production in the different fields of physical sciences
by holding scientific conferences and exchanging visits and
lectures
- Linking scientific research in the field of
physical sciences with the needs of the public and private
sectors, studying their needs for applied research, and finding
appropriate channels of communication for putting the results and
outcomes of this research into effect in the applied areas which
touch the requirements of society
- Achieving communication and exchange of
experience between the public education teachers to enhance the
quality of teaching
Activities of the Society
- Encouraging performing research and
scientific consultation
- Participating in authoring and translating
scientific books in the areas of physical sciences, and enriching
the Arab library with Arabic books in the different subjects of
physical sciences
- Organizing seminars, study circles and
workshops which contribute to enriching the different aspects of
physical sciences and the teaching of physics in the different
educational levels
- Issuing studies, publications, and
scientific periodicals which deal with the different aspects of
the physical sciences
- Participating in local and international
exhibitions related to the physical sciences
- Inviting scientists to participate in, and
enrich, the activities of the Society and give lectures, according
to the organizational procedures
- Enlightening the society to the importance
of this specialization, and linking it with the different applied
aspects it needs. This is accomplished by:
(a)
Organizing educational field trips for the members
of the Society
(b)
Holding scientific competitions to enrich the
different parts of physics, and inform society of the role of
physical sciences in nurturing it
- Conducting periodical meetings for the
members of the Society to define its activities and select the
members of the Executive Board
- Performing research and explorational
studies to find out the need of the industrial sectors and arrange
with them to conduct appropriate studies which serve the need of
those sectors
- Corresponding and sharing skills with other
scientific societies
- Striving to diffuse scientific physical
knowledge in society, by arranging general lectures, educational
films, and television and radio programs
