Importance of Symposium

In the midst of a world where cultural differences entangle and vanish, globalization causes national identities and political border to disappear. In this context, language as means of communication is a major transmitter of civilization. However, it can also become an instrument of domination and can neutralize societies that cannot compete.
In the same way that the scales of power in politics and economy tilt in favour of the powerful, so language becomes the means whereby hegemonic ideas of one group condition the ideas of others. This poses the questions: Where are we in the midst of this? What is the position of any one language on the continuum of power? Can an indigenous means of communication have any impact on the world, or is its message necessarily swamped by the hegemony of currently dominant languages?
